Craftypammy is a Storytime resource run by me, Miss Pam, to share with you the best methods that I have personally found on how to run a fun, creative and exciting Storytime program.
I’m a creative girl in her late 20’s who learned about Storytime programs while volunteering at my local library back in 2013.
I graduated college with a degree in English Literature and right after graduation I was unable to find a job. That’s the moment when I started volunteering at my local library.
I enjoyed it so much that I ended up volunteering full time for almost a year, focusing on multiple aspects of the library world, but more specifically storytime. After that I landed a job at a public library in the LA area and it was there were I specialized in doing only storytimes.
I am now finishing Grad school and currently conducting 4 storytimes a week in multiple libraries.
I’ve always believed that Art and Literature are both connected in very profound ways and that they have a very positive impact on those involved.
Picture books are the perfect combination of Art and Literature and what better way than for children to take part in this than by creating their own artistic crafts after reading a beautiful picture book during storytime.
I still remember the moment when I was at work and I was planning a craft for my storytime and I got so inspired by a picture book that I wanted something creative and artistic linked to that book, to enhance that storytime experience.
It was a great success!
After that, I just kept focusing on one main book for my storytime and creating a craft to go along with it, while having other supporting books as well. I chose to focus on one specific picture book with a strong and positive message to create the accompanying craft.
By doing the craft, the kids develop a stronger attachment to the story and its message due to them being linked to the craft in a more personal level and they often tend to retell the story to their relatives when sharing their craft.
When I started CraftyPammy, my goal was to have a place where I could post the templates of the crafts that I was making and have them available as a resource to aid everyone who works with children – such as storytellers, librarians, and teachers.
I started this project with much, much love and it’s becoming larger every day thanks to visitors like you. I have been investing more and more time into this site and all I can say is that I’m so happy I started this project – it has enriched many kids life’s even just a bit with the power of joy, art and literature.
I believe that every child should have access to education in fun, creative and enjoyable ways such as creative reading, creating crafts & doing fun activities and worksheets. I want the children of the world to grow up with the mindset that learning can be fun!
I love what I do because it brings me so much joy and energy when I see the kids having fun and being creative with their crafts while at the same time learning about new ideas through picture books.
I love reading from children’s literature to adult literature… I mean I was an English Lit major. 🙂
I love coffee shops, disneyland, museums and desserts!

My kids and parents are the reason why I started this project in the first place. I’ve built this site for you! I love hearing stories of your storytime programs and how you have incorporated some of the activities on my site.
